Who Is Captain Ordinary?
Off stage, Captain Ordinary represents the hopes and dreams of writer and musician, Jeff Kelley. The exceptional have great opportunity and reward here in the States. But who celebrates those of us doing the everyday work for a paycheck, hoping it's enough to cover expenses, with a little left over? Pete Seger comes to mind. Captain Ordinary works to uplift the everyday people, the vast majority of us doing the ordinary things. Captain Ordinary is like Spiderman, but with ordinary powers. Here's a partial list:
- Changing diapers, (disposable if you insist or better) cotton, with pins
- Washing dishes, and putting them away
- Folding fitted sheets, fairly neatly
- Listening without offering advice
- Understanding written directions
- Building simple web pages by modifying free html and css with a text editor
- Leading a sing-a-long
On stage, Captain Ordinary is the self actualized version of Ordinary, the protagonist of the series, Ordinary, of which Origins of Ordinary is the pilot. Performed live as a one person show by Jeff Kelley, with his soon to be wife, Tina, in the booth for lights and sound cues, Origins of Ordinary introduces Ordinary, and his inner committee of personas, as they struggle to work together as a whole, healthy human, out to put on a show.
Who is Jeff Kelley?
Jeff Kelley is the body containing the mind behind Captain Ordinary. He's a writer, musician, actor, and devotee to the art of entertainment. He's got well over 40 years of writing songs, performing as a singer/songwriter, in bands, and working in theater as a writer, musician, and actor.
